This week is all about treasure hunts. Treasure hunts are a perfect way to have your little pea work on all those things they struggle with from handwriting, gross motor skills, persistence despite failure, visual scanning and much much more. Treasure hunts are exciting ways to get your little pea moving and working on all those skills they need a little support on without them even knowing.
Hide things around the house and have your little pea find them, give them clues they have to read out or simplify it and just leave them to search a particular room. Once they find it, have them write down what they found, in what room. Have them search the room by jumping between furniture. Get them to hide items of all shapes and sizes. Increase their imagination by giving them cryptic clues such as ‘this item is round and bouncy’ or ‘it’s near something that makes a lot of noise’, etc.
Let us know how creative your treasure hunt was and how your little pea foundit. You would be surprised just how to can incorporate your child’s areas needing improvement into this small activity.
