School holidays look a little different at Little TheraPeas. The regularity and routine of therapies often stays in place, though we do recommend for some Little Peas the opportunity to take a much needed break to consolidate skills. For those that continue to attend their sessions we use it as an opportunity to be a little bit more silly and give things a shake up. Our first pic is Director/Occupational Therapist, Bec, in her pyjamas, under a blanket fort. Yep, you read that right. Bec and all her Little Peas she saw had pyjama parties. The second picture is one of our amazing Therapy Asisstants, Taylor, at Holey Moley with a Little Pea. This Little Pea has had 3-4weekly TA sessions over the holidays. We worked extremely hard as a team to create a tailored Therapy Assistant school holiday program for this and a few other Little Peas who struggle with being in groups, don’t manage well with strangers (where support workers aren’t an option) and parents need additional support. The Little Pea featured has NDIS goals relating to engaging in the community, separating from mum, building his motor skills and working towards independence. To see the Little Pea come out of their shell, develop confidence in the community, be able to reduce their aggression at home and build on their strategies for regulation this school holidays has been amazing!
